We build them in stone and brick, on patios, porches, decks and anywhere else in an outdoor living space, and we install indoors as well. One thing worth knowing before you design: an oversized firebox is where the money goes furthest. A larger box throws more heat, takes bigger logs and keeps people comfortable at a normal distance rather than crowding in.

Do I need a permit for an outdoor fireplace?
Usually. Masonry structures with a chimney typically require a county permit, and gas lines always do. Many neighborhoods also require HOA approval for anything permanent in the yard. We handle it.
Can you build one on my existing patio or deck?
Often, but it depends on what's underneath. Masonry fireplaces are heavy and need their own footing, so we check the existing structure before designing anything.
Gas or wood — which should I pick?
Gas if you want fire on a weeknight without effort. Wood if the fire itself is the point. We'll talk through both against how you actually expect to use it.
How long does it take to build?
Most outdoor fireplaces run one to two weeks on site once permits clear, depending on size and finish material.
Can I use it year-round?
Yes, and that's much of the appeal. An outdoor fireplace makes the patio usable in the shoulder seasons when it would otherwise sit empty.
